The component that refines quality
Due to its special chemical properties, lime is widely used in the iron and steel industry, where it plays a decisive role by removing impurities such as sulphur and phosphorous. Quicklime is used in the smelting and refining of steel; calcium carbonate and hydrated lime are used in the production of agglomerated iron ore, from which cast iron is made; finally, lime mixtures with a very low residual CO2 content are successfully used in secondary metallurgy and in the production of high quality steel.
Hydrated lime is successfully used in the treatment of water from secondary plants (ex. pickling).
